  Who Are We?
 
Staff

Villy Christensen, Carl Walters, Steve Martell and Daniel Pauly – are the key developers of the Ecopath with Ecosim (EwE) approach and software, as well as professors of the UBC Fisheries Centre. They have taught EwE courses throughout the world. These developers will work closely with the design and development of the project. Their emphasis will be on the computational and analytical aspects of the approach.

  Daniel Pauly

Daniel Pauly, PhD – Co-Principle Researcher, Sea Around Us Project, and Director, UBC Fisheries Centre. Responsible for overall concept direction.


  Villy Christensen

Villy Christensen, PhD – Co-Principle Researcher, Responsible for overall project performance and direction.


  Sherman Lai

Sherman Lai, B.Sc. – Project Coordinator. Will oversee the project coordination and development, and also be involved in the development of interfaces. Will be in charge of implementing state-of-the-art technologies on collaborative environment, as well as in designing human-computer interaction schemes. Will be internally responsible for project performance, including tracking that development deadlines are met.


  Rashid Sumaila

Rashid Sumaila, PhD – Director, Fisheries Economics Research Unit. Responsible for game theory and economical aspects.


  Fang Gao

Fang Gao, MSc. – Developer. Will be in charge of user interface development.


  Walt Yao

Walt Yao - fourth year student in Computer Engineering at UBC (Workstudy). Will aid in the development in the User Interface.


 
Consultants

  Jackie Alder

Jackie Alder, PhD – Project Manager. Will be in charge of the administrative aspects of the project, such as recruitment of staff and reporting for the project. Responsible for disbursement of the budget, reporting and coordination with the Sea Around Us Project.


  Jeroen Steenbeek

Jeroen Steenbeek - Technical consultant, responsible for all-over design and quality assurance.


  Joe Buszowski

Joe Buszowski – Core developer, will update most of the core components of the current EwE.

Kelly Booth, PhD - Associate Director of Nectar Research project to support the development of the project.


  Barry Po

Barry Po, PhD – Computer Supported Collaborative Workspace specialist from the Nectar Research project to aid in the development of single player and multiplayer interface.

Melanie Troy, PhD - Information Visualization specialist from the Nectar Research project to aid in the development of the user interface.
